Recipient herds are required to verify pregnancies via ultrasound by 90 days of gestation.
Recipient herds are required to record birthdate and actual or best estimation of birth weight via weight tape.
Recipient herds are required to vaccinate calves pre-weaning.
Calves should be weaned at least 30 days prior to transfer back to embryo owner.
Recipient herd is required to sell calf back to embryo owner.
Recipient herd owner is responsible for synchronization cost of recipient cows (Approximately $10 to $15).
Embryo owner provides the embryo and pays for transfer of embryo (Approximately $60).
Embryo owner buys the calf after weaning or previous to weaning.
Calf pricing is determined by taking the top 2 sets of steers sold at Huss Livestock, Kearney, NE, Lexington Livestock, Lexington, NE and Ogallala Livestock, Ogallala, NE. The average price of these 6 sets of calves is determined and $300 is added to determine the final price.
Embryo owner is not obligated to buy cattle with blemishes or dinks. Blemishes would include but not be limited to pinkeye scars, frozen ears, large scars, etc.
